Course update 21 March 2020

Posted on 21st Mar 2020

The weather has finally turned in our favour and so both Mikey and I have had a busy day out on the mowers today. We have mown all the fairways, approaches, surrounds and the majority of the rough apart from a few areas that are still unsuitable for the mower to travel on. The greens and the tees will be mowed in the morning and so from tomorrow, Sunday the 22nd, we will return to the full 18 holes again. Although we will return to the full course tomorrow, a few areas are still soft underfoot so please be mindful when walking near these areas. These are the 3rd fairway, in front of the 5th tee box, the left hand side of the 7th fairway, the start of the 8th fairway, the start of the 12th fairway, the right hand side of the 15th as you approach the green and the right hand side of the 16th fairway. Also, as the weather put a halt to some of our winter projects, please be patient as we catch up on cleaning up these areas. Covid-19 Precautions To help prevent the spread of Covid-19, we had asked that all players leave the flag in at all times. Unfortunately this didn’t work so we have now removed the flags and a Pin sheet is being made available in the Clubhouse. This will be updated weekly and a new pin sheet will be available from approx. 10am each Friday. We will be continuing our bunker renovations in the coming week and although they will be ready for play, they will continue to be G.U.R. The rakes will be removed from the bunkers as a precautionary measure. The ball washers will also be removed from the Course for the moment. These are all temporary measures but are being implemented in the best safety interests for all golfers and greenkeeping staff. It may be necessary to introduce additional safety measures as advice comes in from the HSE and I will keep this under review. Paul Kenny
