Leroy Jones, Billy Phelan (Club Captain), Tommy Swarbrigg, Dinny O'Sullivan and Lewis J. Jackson. Leroy and Lewis are members of the American Drifters who are on tour in Ireland at the moment, they took a break to play a round of golf at Slievenamon with Tommy Swarbrigg (promoter). Tommy is well known in music circles, as he represented Ireland in the Eurovison Song Contest with his brother Jimmy many moons ago.

Nigel who has won an All Ireland Senior Football Medal with Meath in 1999, has also the distinction of being the only player sent off in an All Ireland final, which happened in 2001. An Armagh player has been sent off since then, but this was rescinded on appeal.

CLUB FUNDRAISER FOR DEFIBRILLATOR

PRESIDENT'S PRIZE 2006
Both the Ladies and Gents President's Prize (Margaret Lalor) were held last weekend the 16th & 17th September. The men's competition was a 36 hole competition with the qualifying round being played on Friday and Saturday and the top 36 qualifiers going forward to play in the final round on Sunday. The Ladies competition was played over 18 holes on Saturday. There was a great turnout for the Prize Presentation's Buffet Dinner on Sunday night, with well over a hundred members turning up to honour their President Margaret Lalor. Margaret paid special tribute to the Captains Ann Delahunty and Billy Phelan for the tremendous work they have done for the club during their year in office. She also paid tribute to both secretaries Heather and Brendan and their committees for all their help during the year. Margaret thanked all our sponsors and said a special word of thanks to the members for their great support during the year.

JUVENILE SUMMER COMPETITIONS

LADIES OPEN DAY

ILGU AA INSURANCE FOURSOMES COMPETITION
Our ladies had a good win over Tipperary G.C. in the AA Insurance sponsored ILGU Foursomes Competition. The match was played in atrocious weather conditions and the team who won 2-1 was Mary Comerford and Kathleen Shanley, Mary Kenrick and Ann Delahunty, Marie Quirke and Catherine Cooney. The reserves were Rosemary Lalor and Heather Bailey.

FRED DALY TROPHY COMPETITION
Fred Daly Trophy team (under 18's) did the club proud when they just lost out by the narrowest of margins 3 & 2 to the reigning Irish Junior Foursomes Champions West Waterford.

FRANK PURCELL MEMORIAL CLASSIC IN AID OF TRUST
The Frank Purcell Memorial Classic in aid of “TRUST” was held on Thursday & Friday last, Frank who sadly died last February was the main organiser of the “Trust” Classic each year at the club. Frank did great work in attracting many famous sporting personalities from the past and present to play in the classic each year. His many friends have decided to keep running the classic each year in his memory. Frank was a great friend of Alice Leahy the founder of “TRUST” who is a native of Fethard; her organisation has done great work for the homeless in Dublin since it was formed in 1975. The prize giving, was held at the B.B.Q. which is also in aid of “Trust” in McCarthy’s Hotel on Friday Night.

I don't know what Niall would think, as Tom, James and Davy are all Leeds United fans. Davy said they were all supporting Sunderland on the day, especially as they weren't even playing.

BELVEDERE CUP FINAL AT SLIEVENAMON
The Final of the County Tipperary section of the Belvedere Cup took place at Slievenamon in dreadful weather conditions. Thurles held a 4-1 advantage from the first leg in Thurles but were made fight all the way as Slievenamon went into a 3-1 lead before going down in the final match.

IHCPT CYCLE TO LOURDES 2006
Club secretary Brendan Kenny and club member John Lonergan who were part of the back up team which took part in the IHCPT Cycle to Lourdes over Easter. With them are the four members of their group who cycled over 600 miles from Dinard on the north coast of France to Lourdes in the south. The group raised over €20,000 for the Trust over the last year. The group from Carrick on Suir and Fethard are Stephanie Keating, Bridget Madden, Sr Betty Cagney, Bobby Power and John and Brendan
