Trust Golf Classic 6th & 7th August 2004.
Though based in Dublin it has its roots here in Tipperary. Alice Leahy the founder of TRUST is a native of Fethard. Alice the well known campaigner for the homeless, has been named as the Tipperary Person of the Year for 2004. The award was made in recognition of Alice's contribution to the homeless in Dublin, since she founded the TRUST organisation in 1975. The Annual Classic which is organised by Frank Purcell and Vincent Murphy, Frank has done great work in attracting many famous sporting personalities from the past and present to play in the classic each year. Frank, although living in Dublin for many years is also a native of the area. Frank's company "Motorway" The Auto Experts, 5 Westend Retail Park, Blanchardstown were the main sponsors of the classic. Peter Collins the well known Formula 1 commentator, who is a good friend of Frank, did MC at the prize presentations after the classic. Frank through his friendship with PJ Fallon from the Jordan Formula 1 team, organised that the Jordan EJ12 Formula 1 car which won the Brazilian Grand Prix in 2003 (Driver Giancarlo Fisichella) to be on display at the club over the two days of the classic.
