FRANK PURCELL RIP

The club was shocked to hear of the sudden death of club member Frank Purcell on Monday the 13th of Feb 2006. Frank who was originally from the locality, lived in Dublin. Frank organised the very successful annual golf classic for "Trust" every year at the club. Frank is pictured here with his good friend Babs Keating, Babs was one of the many sporting personalities who came to Slievenamon each year to support his classic . Our sympathy goes to Frank's family and to all Frank's close friends who were shocked to hear the news of his death. TRUST charity.

TRUST CLASSIC AT SLIEVENAMON GOLF CLUB

Vincent Murphy and Frank Purcell RIP (organisers of the classic) along with best selling author Maeve Binchy and RTE's Pat Kenny presented a cheque for €8,000 to Alice Leahy Director of TRUST - the proceeds of the Classic held at Slievenamon Golf Club in aid of TRUST. The presentation took place at the launch of the book "WITH TRUST IN PLACE" which was edited and compiled by Alice. The book was written on the theme of ‘The Outsider’ with contributions from many well-known writers such as Maeve Binchy, Christy Moore and Con Houlihan. This is her second book, her first book being, ‘NOT JUST A BED FOR THE NIGHT’ published by Marino in 1995 and written with Anne Dempsey.
